No one best personifies the philosophy of East meets West like Ling Han. Educated at Hwa Chong Institution before moving to Peking University to pursue her undergraduate degree in International Relations, Ling Han was most recently accepted into Columbia University’s Masters in Public Administration program. Her desire to develop different global perspectives and to better understand the world around her, prompted Ling Han to seek various opportunities such as those with China Policy, a boutique consultancy which develops client briefs for corporate and international organizations regarding China’s economic and political reform, and stints with the internationally recognized firm, KPMG as well as Singapore’s Ministry of Finance and Defence.
When she was a student, Ling Han was involved in the organization of Peking University’s Asia International Model United Nations as its Security Council Director and the inaugural Yale-NUS College Asia-Pacific Model United Nations where she chaired the first all-Mandarin speaking ASEAN Region Forum. An avid, albeit unconventional traveller, Ling Han has not only crossed the ancient Silk Road but has also visited North Korea, Israel and Uzbekistan over the course of her travels. These both satisfies her wanderlust and adds to her appreciation of different modes of governance and policies, which will hopefully come in handy for when she returns to join Singapore’s public service on a Public Service Commission scholarship.
