Introduction to Debate

This program will provide cover the basics of debate (WSDC format). In this program, students will learn about the foundations of debating, including the different types of motions, the different speaker roles as well as the rules of debate.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Understand and build arguments according to the WSDC format
• Differentiate between different types of motions and adopt the right methods to develop their cases for the respective motions
• Understand the roles of each speaker and identify which role fits themselves the best
• Discover their personal style of debating
• Develop coherent and logical arguments
• Practice their public speaking and confidence skills
• Work collaboratively with others
